North Queensland's tropical rainforests are the direct descendants of ancient Gondwana forests, with incredible diversity and complexity.

Lumholtz Lodge is home to Lemuroid, Green, Herbert River, Striped, Brushtail and Pygmy Possums. Tableland endemic birds are residents, including the Grey-headed Robin and Satin and Tooth-billed Bowerbirds. Victoria's Riflebirds, fruit pigeons, honeyeaters, catbirds, rosellas and King parrots also live in the forests. Cassowaries and platypus are in close proximity.

From your home in the rainforests of Lumholtz Lodge you have easy access to wetlands and can explore the variety of all the Tableland habitats, the volcanic lakes Barrine, Eacham and Euramoo, and the Waterfall circuit.
There is birdwatching opportunities at Hasties and Bromfield swamps nearby.

The friendly villages of Yungaburra and Kuranda invite you to find a bargain at their charming markets, or stroll along the promenades and gardens. Skyrail, Tjapukai Aboriginal Dance Theatre, Rainforestation and many other attractions are comfortably reached on daytrips. A visit to Cairns and the Great Barriere Reef will offer unforgettable experiences.
